Sled dogs have long been a part of Denali history. Dog teams were used by Native groups as pack animals, by miners to transport supplies and by early park rangers to patrol for poachers. Today sled dogs remain at the center of park tradition and are one of its attractions. Kennel ranger Karen Fortier shares her insights into the sled dog, the importance of park patrols by sled dog and how these amazing animals have helped to protect Denali National Park.
