Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge

Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge

Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge consists of over 1.8 million acres. The refuge was established in 1941 to protect the habitat of the Kodiak brown bear and other wildlife. The Kodiak bear, sometimes reaching 1,500 pounds, is the world’s largest land carnivore. Kodiak receives about six feet of rain per year. This moisture coupled with mild temperatures makes for a lush island rich in plant and animal life. Come and explore Alaska’s Emerald Isle.
