Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge

Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge

Straddling the Arctic Circle and bisected by the Kanuti and Koyukuk rivers, Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge is a place of understated beauty punctuated by the subtle movements of wildlife. Ice, fire, and flooding rivers sculpt the mosaic of wetlands and spruce, aspen, poplar and birch forests that comprise this untamed place. These wild lands and waters are home to a variety of life from rare and delicate dragonflies to moose, caribou, wolves, beavers, and salmon, which together interact much as they have for thousands of years.
