Wrangell - St Elias National Park & Preserve

A vast and dynamic land marked by some of the nation’s highest peaks and the continent’s largest collection of glaciers, Wrangell-St. Elias is known for its mountains. The park is rich in natural resources and Native heritage with a diverse assortment of landscapes, climates, plant species and wildlife. The landmass is so large (20,630 square miles) that it encompasses several ecosystems and includes 150 miles of coastline. The historic mining town of Kennecott is the park’s most recognizable landmark. The abandoned buildings serve as a reminder of a short period of history that brought much change to the area.
